Journey of Hope:
TransAmerica Team Journal 2017

Thursday, June 29, 2017

Today we had a day off in Casper, Wyoming. After our 104-mile ride from the previous day, the team took advantage of the extra sleep in the morning. Once we got up, many of us ventured into Casper to grab some delicious breakfast from some local restaurants. During most the day, team members did different activities. Some went to do a little shopping, others went to a local reservoir to go for a swim on the beautiful day, meanwhile others cleaned up their bikes from the previous ride’s mud and rain to be ready to go for the next day’s 125-mile ride.

In the evening, we had a friendship visit with the Arc of Natrona County! Initially the visit was to be at a park, but unfortunately the weather ended up moving us indoors. That didn’t stop us from having a great time though! Our sponsors from the Arc provided us some delicious dinner and eventually the skies cleared to let us play games outside such as football and volleyball. We even had a Pi Alpha who is an anchor at a local news station come by and interview a few people. It was also the first time we gave a grant during our trip, where we gave $2,000 to the Arc! Overall, it was a great day off and an excellent way to prepare for our ride into Wheatland tomorrow.
