Robert is an alumnus of the Theta Lambda Chapter at Missouri State University. Following graduation, Robert moved to Kansas City where he began working on his Master of Public Administration. During his time in graduate school, he interned for the Kansas City City Council, and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

After graduating with honors, Robert accepted a full time position with HUD as a Management Analyst. During that same time, Robert came across a non profit group called Young Government Leaders. The organization is based in Washington D.C., but opens local chapters around the country. With the help of others, Robert formed a leadership team and established a provisional chapter. Following the organization's founding, he served on the Executive Board for two years. Today, Young Government Leaders – Greater Kansas City has nearly 300 members.

In 2014, Robert accepted a position with the University of Kansas Medical Center as their Director of Government Relations. In this position, he helps organize and facilitate advocacy efforts on behalf of the institution. In addition to his work with Young Government Leaders, Robert served on the board for the American Society for Public Administration - Greater Kansas City Chapter. He also volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and has been matched with his Little Brother for over four years.

Advice for students and young alumni:
“Serve your way to success. Find ways to get involved and volunteer in the community where you live and work. You’ll meet great people, gain valuable experience and set yourself apart from other young professionals.”
